Repaired and restored, double-glazed, sash windows in Sandycove

Repairing sash windows in Sandycove

This is a period family home in Sandycove where we were asked to repair and restore their sash windows.

Sash windows in period houses that face the sea can face far more wear and tear then windows in houses that are inland, so it’s always important to keep the well-maintained to ensure they last for many years.

The window frames were in good condition and only needed some slight repairs, whereas the sashes themselves needed to be replaced.

We repaired and stripped the sash window frames. We then made new, bespoke sashes and ensured that they were identical replicas of the original ones, and we used Pilkington Optitherm double-glazing in them. Once we had installed the sashes in the restored frames, an then we added new, solid, brass ironmongery, draught-proofing, sash cords and weights. Finally, we carefully hand-painted the windows to ensure that they would open and close with ease.

Our clients were delighted with their new sash windows that will last them for many more years to come!
